Hi Gary........I have NOT used that kit, however, I just received my A model mando kit from Saga and it looks very similar......:-) I too am about to embark on the mando building experience........after the Saga I will spend the $$$ and move up to the Stewart MacDonald F-5 mandolin kit. Check it out at: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Kits/Man...dolin_Kit.html
Happy building...:-)
Peace,
Jim
This is a popular subject here. The kits are usually referred to as IV kits. Here are two recent threads on the subject:

Have fun!
A lot of members have built the A-style kit. The kit with f holes is in fact the Saga kit. It was so popular here a few years ago that several members inquired about other kits so Ken at International Violin went out and found another company (not Saga) to put together similar kits for f-style and oval hole mandolins.
I built one of the original A-style kits 6 years ago and I thought it was very good for the money. Mine has a really nice, flamey back.

I built one too. I thought it was good for the money.
I went ahead and ordered one of these kits. This will be my first one. I"ll post pictures of my progress. Wish me luck.
Thanks,
Gary
Building an instrument and then playing it is one of the best things there is. Good luck.
