take a look at page 2 of the "post a picture of your mando" thread. My 615 is there along with Jim b's 515. We both think there terrific instruments. They sound awesome with new strings and playability and finish are first rate. There's more info in the "Looking for info" section under "Eastman Mandolins..."

You can see my 615 F5 in the general mando discussion under new eastman. Ditto to everything said. Very impressive and they will go up in price. Watch the classifides if you are interested. There might be a 615 and a black fiberglass case for sale. May have an F9 to pay for!! Lp

Gryphon has 3 Eastmans in stock. Pretty good prices too. $1235 for a 615, which is about 20% off list. I played them the other day and they were nice. I would have bought one if they were around a year ago, but I'm happy with my Flatiron. Here's a shot of a 615 from gryphonstrings.com:

Sorry guys for the lack of response lately, I have been so busy trying to cope with the demand that you guys here (particularly Steve at Gianna) have been creating for the instruments. Dave Pegg of Fairport Convention in the UK just picked up an f-style from us (which he promptly named Virginia)and has been bragging all over town about how he thinks it is the best sounding mandolin he has ever used for his style of english, celtic folkrock. Both Steve Winwood and Ian Anderson have enquired about checking the mandos out on Peggy's recommendation. Richard Thompson also was interested but ended up buying an archtop guitar from us instead of a mando. Seems like Eastman is sewing up the English folkrock scene.
So.... I am back and ready to answer questions so fire away!

For those wishing to check these out, today I have 4 MD615, 1 MD815, 1 MD605, and 1 MD915 here. I expect I'll have a few for a week, so it is likely a good time to try them. SW of Knoxville. 866 884 6546

Don't worry about not needing to buy one, we like visitors to come and sit around. I'm making a violin at the moment, too, which is always fun to watch.

    Nice marketing dudes!
    If F-model mandolins have F-holes then why don't A-model mandolins have A-holes???

I don't know but I do think it sucks that they (Gordon) are using this board to promote their product. #I think the product should speak for itself but since this message board is full of "newbies" (no offense intended) there should be an opinion of the mando based on mando players that actually play them! #For me, I will continue to play my Gibson Sam Bush model every weekend.

    Sounds familiar.

If it wasn't for "newbies" getting involved in any hobby or profession it would stagnate and die. Let's give 'em a break and let them enjoy their new found joy. Scott or 'hack can decide when enough is enough and hopefully those who take part in this thread in earnest wont suffer the same fate as those who enjoyed the last "....BRW" thread.

Come on guys. It's no big deal having the Eastman guys talk here. The Gibson guys have been doing it for years. I think it's cool. We get to learn all about Eastman mandolins. It's cool that folks can get a good mandolin for not too much money. Nick

This is a subject I've been very vocal about on this board. First, I think Gordon has identified himself accurately with his signature, and I've never seen him trying to sell any of their products here. I have seen him ask for feedback and input for specific features for their products, as he seems to really want to improve their product.

Now, what I take issue with is the "dealers" hawking their goods on the message board. I've actually seen two or three of these dealers talking about stock and sales of their Eastman ware here on the message board. In my opinion, if you have new stock or new items, you should make use of the area of the board that's reserved for that kind of stuff and NOT the message board. Scott has so graciously provided a place for you to sell your goods, and it's not posting about it here in the discussion area trying to get more exposure.

That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.

Have to agree with Jim on this one.
Hawking Eastman here is a legitimate use of the forum. Hawking Eastmans ought to be done in the Classifieds section.
As a dealer myself, I'd consider posting a laundry list of my current inventory if not improper, a bit tacky. Better to keep this offline.

Well, I honestly agree with ole' Hack and Jim on this one. That is really what I was trying to say even though I pointed out Gordon. I actually think Gordon is seeking input from mandolin players to improve the product but it is just annoying to me that every time I look at an Eastman thread there are several people that are ready to sale you the one they have in stock or just got in. So, no offense to you personally Gordon.

Also, I wasn't criticizing the newbies, I just think it is easier for people to take advantage of you and make you believe their product is the best if you are a newbie and haven't experienced a lot of mandos, products, etc.
