    Default Waltz Suggestions

I am wanting to learn a good waltz ,old time or bluegrass. However,I cant seem to find one that is simple to learn, and easy to get tab for. Probably, because I just have not been listening to very many waltzes.Any and all listening suggestions will be appreciated.

    Hi Ernie:
    Tennessee Waltz in D
Also, the Cafe tab section has a boatload of waltz tabs. You're sure to find one you like there.

One of my favorites is Red Fox Waltz, as played by Robin Bullock on The Road Home, the musical homage to the late Butch Baldassari. After listening to this version, I bet you could play it by ear.

Ashokan Farwell is a classic. It's in this book and I'm probably all over the web if you search. The book is nicely done though and has a bunch of other good tunes in it.

Festival Waltz, Kentycky Waltz, Roxanna Waltz, and Ookpic (sp) Waltz are easy to find and you can start out simple and go on from there.

The Waltz Books (linked a couple of posts above) are wonderful, come in 3 volumes, but not in tab. Waltzes are pretty easy to read tho since you play them moderately.

There is a wonderful series of waltz books called "The Waltz Book" by Bill Matthiesen. (Books 1,2,&3) In Book three there is one I play and love by Peter Ostroushko called Medicine Bow. Also, Down Home Waltz by Buck White that is great to play; and finally, both in the original key of F and then G, is Jesefin's Dopvals written by Roger Tallroth. Roger is the guitarist with the Swedish trio, Vasen.
