Default Softening old .070 tort binding?

Bought a big coil of old, not too pepperoni, tortoise celluloid binding at the asia convention a few years ago, anybody have tips on softening other than the milwaukee heat gun or microwave? thanks

Bill, I've been having good luck with using glass beads (almost like sand) from Sante Fe Jewelry Supply heated in a teflon coated frypay on a hot plate. More uniform heat dispursion than a heat gun and much less likely to ignite.

Sorry, I was just looking around the office. It's not Sante Fe. Duh! It's Rio Grande supply.
