    Default Weber mandocello plays Bach

    A customer of mine (Tosh Marshall) lent his Weber mandocello to Joel McDermott;

    It will also be on the Weber website.

    Another wow. Wish we could really hear how the Weber sounds by being there in person.

    I think that was the one I played when I came down around 15 months ago - I was impressed with it then and I want one!!! Is the sound consistent between individual instruments of that model? I think I'd prefer "F" rather than "round" holes. Presently waiting to go to the airport for 6 weeks in OZ/NZ - looks like we'll be chasing Tim OBrien around the latter - wonder if I'll see any mandolins?

    I have to say I invested in a great instrument, it's better in Joel's hands than I could ever achieve and it's nice to hear it played properly........
    Thanks to Trevor for doing what he does and keeping us Brits happy. Ray, have a great time down under.....

    I love the 'Mandolin Self Help Group', too (see Tosh's www.mandolins.yolasite.com link).

    That is one sweet Mandocello and great playing. I think the F-style body looks awesome on a Mandocello, much moreso than a guitar style body. Thanks for sharing.

    Tremendous sound on that cello! Nice playing, but a tad slow for my taste - the courante should be more lively. I'd love to hear him take on the second (D minor) suite. I think the gigue from that would lend itself perfectly to the kind of powerful sound that cello can make!

    I like those group videos, Tosh. What were we talking about? I am quite sure the videos cut off just before nurse Ratched comes in to serve tea, and isn't that Jack Nicholson on the right, playing a zouk?

    Bertram the valium is required because trying to keep them in check is a nightmare, it's like a day at the races and they all want to get past the finishing post first!!!!!! I did offer Joel my glasses and asked him to 'Do The Freddie' but he said he didn't like Freddie & The Dreamers!!!! Some people have no taste!!!!! I will try and get him to do Fiddle tune with it whilst he has it.........
    KenP I'll pass the comments on to Joel, he's from a traditional background rather than classical but he plays everything.
    Jill thanks for the kind words.....

    Eeer... I actually had to search "Do the Freddie" on YouTube, and.... he just might have a point

    But I agree that your glasses would have helped

    That looks just like the Gallatin that I fell in love with at Mandolin Bros. a couple of years ago and brought home. It looks the same and has the same rich tone, although that one is lucky enough to be played by someone who really understands the instrument.
