Default Ratliff Mandolins and RatCliff Mandolins. I got them mixed up.

    You've got Audey Ratlff http://www.ratliffmandolins.com/

    Ken Ratcliff http://www.silverangelmandolins.com/

I got them mixed up and almost bought one used, thinking it was the other.

I see in doing a search I found I'm not the only one. I found a thread where a poster posted about one and others started posting about the other like they were the same. It seemed so any way.

I wound up calling both guys. They both were very helpful and seemed very nice.

What are your opinions of their work?

Both good values I think. I've never heard any of Audey's work but I have a mandolin whose construction was overseen by Ken and its a good one that suits me just fine. It has a really excellent tone and for the price it will be hard to beat without spending a few thousand more.

I have a two year old RATLIFF and it is just fantastic, and I am a hard person to please when it comes to a mandolin...I have also heard great things about the RATCLIFF so my suggestion is to try both if you have a chance to play them before buying and see which one suits your fancy....I don`t think you can go wrong with either one....Good luck with that ever you select.....Willie
