    Default Bowl back jazz!

Thought I'd pop this up here. I posted this originally under a Vega thread in the classical section but it's a jazz standard (played on an old Vega).
I was trying to get a mix between the delicate bowlback classical sort of sound and improvisational playing....
Anyway it's really shameless self plugging I suppose so apologies, but it might be of interest!

Embedded the video URxh20xmSSg for your viewing pleasure. Sounds great by the way.

Mark, thank you for posting this.
Fantastic playing on your part and quite enjoyable to listen to. The combination of the classical, Old-World sound of the instrument with the improvisational licks is unique, but also sounds 'right'...I think you're on to something. I'd love to hear more.
    Again, great playing...very inspirational.

    Thanks Ed and Jamie,
I think it works as long as the music doesn't require a more driving rhythm when an arch top mando does the job better (my usual squeeze is a 1920 F2).
I recorded this number for a cd that came out in 2006 but I'm thinking about doing a cd around the idea of more delicate improvisational music played in this way. So, judging by past experience, that'll be finished around 2050........

    Cheers,

Bravo! My favorite Jazz Standard! That's a really nice take on it. You do manage to capture the Tater's classical feel into your approach. Thanks for posting!
