    Has anyone used one?
What do you think of it?
How would it compare to the Shertler pick up?
What do you think the best preamp to get with it?

I have an Eastman 614 that I've stuck an LR Baggs Radius onto. On a previous mando, I installed a piezo bridge that I was never really happy with.

I like the Radius. I run it through the Baggs' Gigpro which I find gives me much better volume and tonal control.

Lots of folks here use it. The difference between the models seems to be the attachment to various instruments, not the pickup itself. I have both this and the Schertler. They are different technologies. The Schertler provides a more microphone-like sound, but the Radius is more feedback resistant at high volumes, for me at least.

I use the Baggs ParaDI preamp for the Radius. I plug the Schertler directly into the mixing board. If you do that, the price tags aren't that much different, although many prefer to use a preamp for the Schertler as well.

The Radius is the main pickup I use for internal installs. The Radius gives a great balance between tone and feedback. It has a fuller tone than most piezo pickups. It is hot for a passive pickup.

I would use a PARA-DI (sounds great, and is able to stand up to TIM) or the Venue (preamp) is great if you gig regularly. The preamp does warm up the tone aside from giving you control.
