I'll have to check those out. I'm woefully out of touch with contemporary bluegrass, although I do love that Frank Sollivan album - been seeing those guys around the DC region for a year or two now and they always deliver a heck of a show.

FWIW...my current top ten albums of 2010 (none of which are bluegrass )

    1. Arcade Fire; The Suburbs
    2. Free Energy; Free Energy
    3. The Besnard Lakes; Are The Roaring Night
    4. Marty Stuart; Ghost Train: The Studio B Sessions
    5. Best Coast; Crazy For You
    6. Dum Dum Girls; I Will Be
    7. Superchunk; Majesty Shredding
    8. Janelle Monae; The ArchAndroid
    9. The New Pornographers; Together
    10. April Smith and the Great Picture Show; Songs From a Sinking Ship

Yeah, that Marty Stuart recording is excellent!

Another recording that I highly reccomend is Dierks Bentley - Up On The Ridge. He's got The Punch Brothers on a couple of cuts and Ronnie McCoury on some others. He does a great version of Tim O'Brien's arrangement of "Senor" and Tim even pitches in on my favorite break-up song of all time called "You're Dead To Me".

That's probably my favorite release of this year.

Pete is your program something I can listen to over the internet? I`m real dumb when it comes to computers so any instructions would be great.....I was just being a little smartie when I asked if you played bluegrass, I was judging that by the titles of the songs and bands you all were speaking about....I am a traditional bluegrass man myself.....Willie

Hey there Willie - the answer is YES! You can hear programming on KBCS anywhere in the universe. All you need is an internets connection. Just go to www.kbcs.fm and click on the "Listen Live" link on the left hand side and away you go.

Hope to have you along for the fun!
