    Default 1925 H4 Mandola in good hands

    I had the pleasure this past week of attending a tiny, all acoustic Punch Brothers show at Retrofret, the vintage shop down the street from me here in Bklyn. The P-Bros were playing for an invited group of friends and colleagues, and I was lucky enough to be a guest of the owner, Steve Uhrik (in the pic here). After the show the boys stayed to try out this and that, and even though Chris had to go, I dragged him over to the mando rack to try out this gorgeous H-4, that I had seen the day before with who-knows-how-old broken rusted strings on it. Freshly restrung, I said something that it wasn't super loud or cutting, and Thile's answer was something to the effect of, 'who cares? listen to that tone'.

    A lovely thing indeed! According to the web site, it's on hold already. although I DON'T think it was Chris who bought it. Maybe an M-Cafe patron?

    Hey, nice pic of Steve (my friend) and that other guy, too. Sorry I missed the party.

    Looks like Chris' hairline might be drifting too far from the shore... Be clean Chris... be proud!

    Looks like some Antifogmatics were being enjoyed as well......
    I stepped up on the platform, the man gave me the news;
    He said: "You must be joking son, where did you get those shoes...."

    "Your man doesn't sound so good!!"

    Oh, Glass! You are sharper than the serpent's tooth. My own hairstyle matches Steve's almost exactly. And if Chris does someday, in the fullness of time, go our way, I'll welcome him to the club. But I don't think he'll qualify any time soon.
