Hey folks! I started a similar thread a few days ago
    http://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/sh...560#post862560

Sorry, the forum search doesn't seem to work well.

You folks seem to have some great thoughts/experience with mandolins in this price range.

Posters on "my" thread seem to really like the LM400.

Any thoughts on how the MD305 would fit into my list?

Incidentally, I can't seem to find the MD305 anywhere else, it is not even described on the Eastman website?!?!

    Thanks, Ariel

If you like the Eastman neck (tiny frets, narrow neck, not very deep) you'll prefer the Eastman Economy to something from "The Loar" or Kentucky. If you like a not so narrow neck you'll prefer the others and if you like fatter, "banjo" frets you'll like "The Loar" best of the three.

Compared to the substantial differences in size and feel, the differences in sound are minor. Go with the one that fits your hand.

I had the chance to play both a 305 and 315. Typical Eastman quality with simple matte finish, inexpensive Gibson style tailpiece, and simple gig bag. I thought they were way cool. Certainly a good competitor for LM-300 or 400 with a very clean, simple appeal.
