Default Anybody seen the new Guardian fiberglass mandolin case?

Or know where to find a picture, or price? There is nothing on their web site.

    Inquiring minds want to know.

I *think* that First Quality Music has them in their current catalog, but they're not on their website. I believe that they were priced around $130 and came in red, blue, yellow, white, maybe another color or two.

According to the company, they are not available for sale at this time but should be soon. At NAMM they had the prototype with them, but it was not available for market yet.

So, they are all shaped? Will they make a rectangular case?

I'm quite partial to the design and am a newbie to mandolin,
Would this case also serve well for an A-style mandolin?
Or would the space left from the scroll and point(s) make it loose and able to bounce around?

Sure , body on most As in the Gibson style, are the same Minus the scroll and points ,
so are just not filling those spaces in the case , You can use the space for other stuff, like rolling up and stowing your strap.

I believe we are talking about 2 different cases here. the gaurdian fiberglass cases you see at the mandolin store are the older ones thats been around for a couple years now. I owned a white one and really loved it. I let it go with a mandolin and wished I hadn't. I'm gonna get me another white one. I was told by banjo.com that the new fiberglass mando cases by gaurdian was to have more of a teardrop shape. i just don't know when we will see them.

The Bluegrass Blog has a picture. Definitely teardrop with lots of padding!

Yep, pic is on bluegrass blog. GOOD LORD! that is one fine looking case! I have changed my mind for sure (i will NOT be getting the shaped fiberglass case) and will be getting the teardrop shaped one as soon as it comes out... one fine looking case.

This case is supposed to be about two months off now (late October or so)... They are taking dealer orders.

There's another interesting Calton alternative from Colorado Case Company listed on the Bluegrass Blog, too. Apparently Colorado Case Co. acquired the technology from the Price outfit. Not cheap, but U.S. made.

The case he is referring to is a new Guardian fiberglass case that is shaped like a Calton case. It is larger and has more padding than the other Guardian fiberglass case. Probably has more stoage based on larger size. The Mandolin Store has the item listed now and the correct photo of this new flight case. I've preordered one to accompany my Custom Mandolin Store Gibson F-9.

The body cavity of the case seems to be well padded, but the vulnerable (?) headstock area doesn't look to be as well padded. For the price quoted on the 'Bluegrassblog' web site,it's a bargain, especially considering how labour intensive making such cases is. If they're as good as they look, they should sell like hot cakes to those who want a Calton type case without the Calton type price tag,& the Mandolin Store price is even more appealing,

I see that The Mandolin Store had some in stock and they have already sold out. Has anyone seen one of these in person yet? It looks good but it's hard to tell how well the headstock area is padded from the photo.

We actually got 8 of them in but all were pre-sold. We did take pics of the actual case and put on our site. I was extremely impressed with the case. It's looks and feels like a Calton. The only downside was no D rings for a shoulder strap. We called the company and asked about this but they were unsure if future ones would have that or not. We suggested they most certainly needed it.

    Dennis,
I checked out you site but it's hard to see any detail of the headstock area in your photo. I saw another photo and the padding in that area looked thin. Is that the case? How securely is the instrument held? Can the headstock rock back and forth and hit the inside of the case? I agree with you that D rings are a must.
