I used to have one of his A model mandolins. It sounded and played very well, very traditional sounding bluegrass mandolin. NFI on my part, but I think he builds very good mandolins for the price. Also, very nice person to deal with.
Walter Johnson is a young luthier originally from Florida. I almost bought one of his mandolins he had on special to pay for moving to South Carolina. He seems to have a very good reputation among the people who play his instruments and his prices have not yet gone up much as he is still establishing his reputation. I suspect the one for sale in the classifieds is a pretty good buy.
June is his mother's name.
