    Default string labels

well, this will no doubt sound pretty wonky to some , buuuuut...

i've been wallpapering my music room with string labels...the colorful "cover letter" that you find within the clear plastic pouch that is wrapped around the individual string envelopes.

whew, i hope that makes some sense!

anyway...though i've been saving these labels for a very long time, i'm gonna come up way short.....so i'm making a desperate plea for assistance!

if you'd be so kind as to save and send me your un-needed labels i'd be greatly, greatly appreciative.

i have no need for the plastic envelope, or the individual paper envelopes...just the actual colorful string label that advertises the brand and particular set.

and it doesn't necessarily have to be mando string labels...gtr, bass, banjo, uke, dulcimer, etc....ALL GOOD!

i'm reluctant to put up my address here so if you're actually able and willing to help me out....perhaps you can PM me.

thanks so much in advance.....btw, i'd be happy to reimburse shipping costs.
    just groove, baby!

I don't change strings too often so I can't help but, if you're a string packaging fan look at the secodn issue of the Fretboard Journal and this most excellent thread started by Jim Garber.

It might take some time to save up enough to make it worthwhile to mail them. Try contacting some shops that have a repair dept. like Elderly, First Quality, Gryphon, Gruhn's, Mandolin Bros., etc. I bet big Joe might go through a few in a month or so. It doesn't hurt to ask.

I think Mike has the right idea. Call the music stores and see if they would save them for you. The guys at Weber are also pretty cool I bet they go through some strings.

You might make a plea on a guitar forum as well - if guitar strings are of interest. And also many string manufacturers have posters advertising their strings and highlighting this or that artist that uses them. A poster covers a lot of wall space.

    Just thinking out loud.

You gotta understand, I once did a complete room in egg cartons, the square ones that hold 36 eggs. It was a cement block room that sounded and felt horrible. I was inspired by a radio station I once visited as a kid.

i-vibe; have you contacted the marketing departments of the various string companies? I would bet they would love to send you several labels from their line...This is the kind of street-level brand presence that marketing departments drool over!

great tip there eddie. i heard back from two of the "biggies" and they're gonna send me some. now , whether that's two, twenty, or two hundred...i dunno.

of course i still could use help from the "little people" too.....so far it's been pretty slim pickins.

well, the good news is i rcvd a pkg from the good folks at FENDER

bad news is there was only one string pkt/label in the envelope

good news is it contained a set of gtr strings

bad news is it's not a gauge i use

more bad news.....now you have to deal w continued pleas for help.

for those following along at home, the score so far.....zero labels sent from any MC members.

I've been working on a room in my house and using this same idea. I have talked to a luthier (in California) that goes through a lot of strings. He is saving them up for me. If I ever get them and have any left over then I'll send the spares to you. I thought I was the only one crazy enough to try this. I told the luthier frined of mine that I needed several hundred. He said no problemo. We'll see. I don't use very many strings myself. I have saved up about maybe 2 dozen packs.
