    Default Waldersdorff mandolins

Some years ago I purchased a used mandolin made by David Waltersdorff, it is number II and made in 1967, from what I have found about David he lives/lived in Pa. and I was wondering if any of you here on the Cafe have heard of him and might be familiar with his work...It`s a fine mandolin and plays nice but I had to replace the tuners on it a few years ago and also installed a new bridge and fingerboard:mandosmiley...I met a fellow that played a fiddle made by Walter and it was as good a sounding fiddle that I have ever heard...Any info would be nice.....Willie

I have information on the maker of this mandolin, he was my father. He was a luthier by trade and only made seven mandolins, he said they were much more work to build than a violin or guitar.

I have heard about 10 of his fiddles/violins. All had a slightly different tone, but all were exceptional to my ear. I visited his shop a few times in the early '90's. A real gentleman and master craftsman. Great repair and set-up.

Bob, There was a fiddle player that lived up near Gettysburg that was a gunsmith also and he had a Waltersdorf fiddle, I`m sure you know who I mean, I am just too sleepy right now to think of his name, he passed a way a few years ago....I bought that mandolin from a friend of yours that lives in Thurmont.....

    Thanks for the popst.....Willie

123, that happens sometimes to me as well if I try to open it from the "you have a new message" alert. If you go up to the very top of the page where it says, "notifications" and go about it that way it should open without issue...at least that works for me! Good luck!
