    Default Mark Josephs: "Tenor Eleven"

Mark Josephs has released an album featuring 15 songs played on the acoustic and electric tenor guitar.
I've only listened to the previews, but really like the Bluesy feel of the material. The production sounds quite good also.

Here's a link to the cd baby page for the album.

Thanks Ed, for your thoughtful post regarding TENOR ELEVEN! I enjoyed recording songs to specifically highlight the tenor guitar....the sound it gets when played by itself, or with a second tenor guitar part. There are mandolin orchestras and maybe one day we can put together the world's first tenor guitar orchestra! On LITTLE RED ROOSTER, I used a chromatic harp, a Hohner XB40, a Hohner bamboo reed Crossover Harp and a Lee Oscar...four different harp breaks, four different harps played straight position (C Chromatic 64 Chromonica), 2nd and 3rd position with the other harps...to give a diversity of note choices and tone for each break. I used a Mike Soarsey electric tenor on that song, also.

P.S. If you Google "mark josephs tenor guitar" it will pull up YouTube videos of short lessons that are transferable to the mandolin, in most cases, as well as a link to the Annual Tenor Guitar Gatherings. Or you can click here: http://www.tenorguitargathering.com and also see videos and get info.

No problem Mark. I'm always happy to mention anything that promotes the tenor guitar!

Regarding "Tenor Eleven", are all your tenors tuned CGDA throughout the album?

Mark plays in both CGDA and DGBE, so I doubt this album is all one or the other.

Mark, did you use the doubleneck on this recording at all? And will you have any physical product, or is it download-only?

I tune CGDA on every song. I didn't tune GDAE or DGBE. On some songs I played CGDA but used different positions...open string chords and blocked/ capo'd chords, to get an orchestral sound. I don't understand why mandolin players don't all
own tenor guitars? I play tenor guitar...and I own two mandolins. They complement each other so well.

Didn't have an opportunity to record with the double neck..,
