Holy smokes that's a great looking A style mandolin. L. Smart definitely knows what he is doing, I really like the way he goes about making a mandolin.
Wow.........very cool.
Nice!

I've always admired that style on his website. That's just beautiful!!! How does it sound? More like an oval hole?

Okay, I'm making a new MandoLaw that I have absolutely no power to enforce:
No posting of pics of your new mandolin UNLESS a sound clip is included!

Very nice box, though not for the faint of heart (visually, and only from a bluegrass brickhead´s perspective).

I had the opportunity to play the "comma hole" mandolin a couple of times before it left for the UK. It's a gorgeous piece of work with a very distinctive voice. Like all of Lawrence's work, it's wonderful!
I also had the chance to play a couple of octaves that Lawrence finished including an F style that just hurt me. I generally don't like oversized F style instruments but the proportions of this noe were just gorgeous, and it sounded better than it looked.
And, I can't say enough about the 10 string fanned fret mandolin, what an amazing, inspiring instrument it is! It makes me think about mandolin playing in a whole new way.
Chip,
Lawrence will be starting a double comma hole ten string fan fret for me very soon.
