Not really wanting to sound a 'sour note' on this - Since AKUS no longer refer to themselves as a Bluegrass band (as has been made known thro.quite a few threads on here),why are they appearing at a Bluegrass Festival ?. One reason i suppose,is that in spite of the stuff they do,they'll be a 'draw' for many of their fans. I've no problem with that, except that there are far worthier 'proper' Bluegrass bands out there waiting to be heard,

Ivan, I'm not sure Telluride has really considered itself truly a bluegrass festival for some while. It was the reason I bailed last year. If it's called a bluegrass festival I really expect to see the bulk of artists come from the bluegrass/new grass world. I appeciate the need and desire for organisers to want to add some variety (and keep the costs down) by adding a lesser act from the folk world, but if I've travelled across the pond to join the festival, there'd better be bluegrass!

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros on Saturday night! Now there's some traditional bluegrass! As far as AKUS, they're just an outstanding group with some of the most respected bluegrass musicians around.

Telluride has a great lineup this year but if you're looking for traditional, there are countless festivals to choose from.

IMHO it's a genearally accepted notion that festivals like Telluride and Wintergrass that have the word "bluegrass" in them are not strictly bluegrass festivals per se. Now how you want to define bluegrass, well that's whole 'nother website!

This looks like an AMAZING line up of incredible and diverse musicians and I would love to attend. Bluegrass? Well, some. Acoustic? mostly. World class performers? Absolutely! Lots of festival choices throughout the land for more Trad BG, but for this boy, this is just the kind of eclectic festival mix that I would like to see. YMMV
