Howdy all, I'm looking to find a mandolin teacher in the jacksonville, florida area. I am willing to travel. My only request is that the teacher uses standard notation for lessons. I would call myself an intermediate player. Thanks for any help!

If you want to learn to read notation for mando, I recommend Lou Martin, (N.Y.) who teaches via cassette tape exchange lessons. He is a master and can play any style, while being an expert on Monroe stuff. He starts with the book 'Cristofaro Method' which is a great resource for learning notation. I live in Jax. and took lessons from him, I can read music pretty good, and may can help, but still mostly lean towards tab and playing by ear.

I took from Mike Elin along about 1984. I learned some good technique to get me going great. I recommend Mike as well. Good luck.
