    Default Happy April Fool's Day!

For those who may never have seen these, here is a link to Mandolin Cafe spoofs that were launched on past April Fool's Days.

Hey...anything with fishing equipment or guns can't be all bad!!! . I think they are very closely related to mandolins, aren't they?

Just remember. Mandolins don't create, people do.

Now you tell me it's a spoof! No wonder they looked at me like I was crazy when I tried to put in an order earlier today at Cabela's. They are a few miles from me. Heck, I thought I might have a better chance at getting hired there.

Mandolins and fishing. Reminds me of the old ad/spoof in BU for a Lloyd Lure...anyone remember that?

Years ago I posted an "official" notice saying the office copier has had a voice activation system installed. People actually fell for it, and I will never be able to top that one.

Remember when my wife posted my Loar for sale in the classifieds looking for enough money to paint her car

Mando content begins some 30 seconds in, following the rolling of the credits.....

Oh, that brings back memories. What kind of idiot decides that Gremlin is a good name for a car, and wasn't there anybody in the entire company with enough nerve to stand up to the boss and say, "no."

April Fools Day jokes can cause a lot of grief. I used to live in LA. I think it was in '88 that one of the really huge classic rock stations out there shot themselves in the collective foot. The last week or two of March they started talking constantly about the important announcement they were going to make on the 1st. On the 1st I'm commuting to work and they make their big announcement - they're going to an all talk format. They had everything set up perfectly, all these fake talk shows throughout the day by former DJs, etc.

Well, I immediately pushed the button on the 'ole radio and selected my second favorite station without giving it another thought. I never went back. Apparently, many thousands of other regular listeners had exactly the same reaction because weeks later they were running ads on all the other stations begging people to come back, that the all-talk format was only an April Fools joke. I guess the joke was on them and whatever hapless programming weenie dreamed up such a singularly stupid idea.
