John McGann's Original Custom Music Transcription Service
Just a note on this:
John is transcribing another piece of music for me, this time a Darol Anger piece. I have used this service in the past, all work has been delivered in a timely fashion, has been EXTREMELY accurate and is very cost-effective. (Quality costs, my Grandma used to say...). Could I do this myself? hmmm...maybe, but lack of time and thoroughness is what it's all about.
I will report back on how it comes, but my expectations will be fulfilled, I am certain.
Thanks, John!

Re: John McGann's Original Custom Music Transcription Service
What all has he done for you? What does he charge? I've recently been doing lots of transcribing....just did flinner's new cimmaron - all of the mandolin parts. It's amazing how much you learn from xscribing.

Re: John McGann's Original Custom Music Transcription Service
I first used his service in <gasp> 1987 to transcribe some recorded solos from guys like Jimmy Gaudreau, Rick Allred, Doyle Lawson, over somewhat common numbers. Since then, my ears have grown (hairs), so that I can do/hear the simple stuff. More recently, he transcribed a John Reischman solo over a Tony Rice tune which was eluding me, and an Aubrey Haynie solo over a tune on a NME record, which I just could not get.
For cost, it's variable, depending on the tune/complexity. He does do free estimates, just like a house painter <g>.

I've used John's service too. Well worth the money. Talk to him about what you want and the cost. I was suprise at how fast the transcription was done and in the mail.

Follow up -
Got the 2 transcriptions I asked him to do - the melody + Mike Marshall solo. Dead-on, easy to read, perfect in every way.
Thanks, John!
