Travel from Boston to Mando Camp North
Hi Everyone:
I am heading to MCN for the first time (and am SO jazzed!!
) and I was wondering if I could get some input about travel from those of you who have been there before?
I will be flying into Boston Logan, and was thinking about renting a car. Is that the way to go, or have any of you taken the shuttle or train from Logan? I've heard that Boston traffic can be a bugger. But, I also don't know how I would get from Groton or Ayer to the camp w/out a car? The website for MCN lists these options but isn't real specific. What have you done in the past?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Best,
Trout

I wouldn't worry too much about Boston traffic -- from Logan to the camp will just be interstate driving -- you can easily get from the airport to I-90 w/out having to visit the tanglement of roads that is surface street driving in Boston. Return is equally easy -- just follow signs to the airport from I-90. Just be sure to have money for tolls each way (less than ten bucks each way -- I think they charge 4 bucks to get off the airport island, and then the toll on I-90 should be a buck or two).

If you want to avoid the hassle/expense of a car (and go green), you can take the Fitchburg South Acton Line to Ayer from North Station. Doesn;t run all the time - check the train schedule to see if it fits yours. If I recall the T layout correctly, getting to North Station from the airport is one change on the T, but it might be 2. Its not too complicated; just ask and there are easy
to read maps.
I'm not sure exactly where mando camp north is in Groton, but its probably on the order of about 5-7 miles from the Ayer station so you'd need to either arrange a ride or find a cab.

Thanks for the responses folks. I think I'll just rent a car. A car will give me the opportunity to do a little site seeing if I have time.
Again, thanks!
