I was looking for others to play with in city of San Francisco- I live in the city and don't have a car so it would have to be somewhere in the city- I would also be happy to organize a group if one doesn't currently exist- please respond if interested

For Irish/Celtic, try the Sunday and Tuesday night sessions at the Plough & Stars on Clement St. Other SF Irish-related activities include sessions at the United Irish Cultural Center (out by the SF Zoo). (Somewhat out-of-date) Listings of other activities are here:

For bluegrass, there are a number of jams, including a fun BG/old-time country music jam run by my friends Chuck and Jeanie Poling. Check out the listings put together by the Northern California Bluegrass Society:
