Default anyone have a loose screw (on their tuner knob)?

Over the course of a year, I have had a second screw fall out of a tuner knob on my Breedlove FF. I was fortunate to find both of them. Aside from trying to remember to give the screws a good tightening each time I replace strings, is there something I could use to ensure that the screws don't work themselves loose? I wondered about a product like 'Locktite'. Or would that just create a bigger problem down the road?

    Thanks

Always use Locktite (or something like it) or they will come loose and fall out, no matter the brand of tuners.

Loctite (no "k") green is the one you want to use for this application. It will keep the screws from vibrating loose but will allow removal when needed.

A little dab of fingernail polish on the threads works well and the screws will come out fairly easily. There are many grades of Loctite, and if you get the wrong type, not like the type Bill mentioned, the screws can be almost impossible to remove.

I was told Loctite Blue is the cure for the loose screws! I have used that product.

That's the stuff Red Diamond used on my 5 tuners. That was 9 years ago, no prob since.

As sunburst said fingernail polish, i've used it for decades and it works great.

Usually i keep black and white around for side dots where i don't want to change anything permanently, a flip on the fingernail and the dot is gone, or it will stay for years. Doesn't seem to damage anything and presto dots. Keeps my urges down for doing my nails too!!

Be carefull tightening the screws. Depending on what brand tuners you have you can split the plastic tuner because the flathead or panhead screw has a tapered bevel of 82 deg or 90 deg and acts as a wedge and your screwdriver ascts a a sledge, thus it splits.
