The new, solid wood, MM bean blossoms

It looks nice (well, not so much on that pic

). Any idea of sound quality?

I've got one. It has good volume but the tone is just not there. Tinny. It actually sounds like an oval hole. It is great to leave sitting around to encourage picking and also to take outside on the deck to play. Mine is not the model shown in the Classifieds... it is a much cheaper version with plywood sides and back and a solid pressed top. Looks decent enough and workmanship is good for $200.

I'm quite interested in that model, which looks good, and is all wood... I reckon it should be of the same standard as the solid wood MM range.
Anyway, should beat the hell out of my epiphone MM-20!

I liked the Morgan Monroe MMS-2 better. We've got those at $579 with goodies, so the Bean Blossom seems more expensive. Odd, considering that the Bean Blossom line is the low end of the Morgan Monroe line. I got a Bean Blossom guitar in, though. Reminded me very much of one of the Johnson models I used to carry, but sounds good and plays well.

It got posted on Thursday. Count 5 working days for crossing the ocean. Count 4 weeks in the slimy hands of the British Customs & Excise. With a bit of luck, I'll have it by the 3rd week of September, having had to fork out 20% of the purchase price to cover import duty. Such is life on the other side of the pond.

Rest assured that the minute it gets to me, and once my fingers are bleeding from testing it, I'll put review and pictures up here for you all to have a look. I'm secretly hoping it will slip through customs, but that would really be a first.

In the meantime, I'm readying myself for my first ever picking weekend!

Congrats Germain. Looking forward to a review. With the exception to the headstock (and finish) those mandolins look identical to my Fender. The position marker inlay, fingerboard extension, and lack of traditional F riser block make me believe they all come from the same factory. The Fenders have a reputation of being too quiet (part of that may be the light Fender strings) but it was a selling point for me. I can play full whack while the family sleeps and not wake anyone.

Anxious to hear how yours sounds.
