    hello,
    # #
    # # # #I am about halfway thru finishing #3 and I have ran out of lacquer thinner. I am using the behlen's lacquer and thinner from stewmac, and was wondering if I could substitute a Napa brand thinner for the behlens? I know the Behlens is nitro, but the napa brand dont say for acrylic or nitro either. Can I do this? Any help would be appreciated. # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # William

You can use Napa thinner. If it says acrylic you can still use in with nitro.
The problems you might run into are quality and speed. A lot of hardware store thinners are "wash grade" or recovered lacquer thinner.
For good results you need a high grade thinner, and I prefer slower eveporating thinners to help avoid blush and to increase flow-out.
If you have a good local paint store you might have better luck finding a good thinner and maybe even someone who can help you with your choice.

You can always add a retarder if you have a tough time finding a slower drying thinner otherwise sunburst has the right idea.
