    I'm not a girl, but I'm very pretty !

Seriously though... Do you girls find that your 'anatomy' gets in the way of good mandolin positioning when playing standing up? Just curious...

So "grandmainger" is a drag name?

I'm a woman, and my anatomy is just fine for playing standing up. And I don't even use a strap, or see a need for one of those devices to separate the back of the mando from my body, because I just rest the bottom edge against my body, not the whole back. (I usually sit while playing, though, because why stand if you don't have to?)

Bratsche, nice to know you're still alive. Don't stay away so long.
    Keep it acoustic.

I'm a girl. Actually, there was a fair number of girls at the mando symposium. More than I would have thought. There were a lot more guys, though.

Mandolin's more popular with the guys?

Probably true, but it seems like there are plenty of 'the fairer sex' around this board ... but who really knows (or cares) unless you're in 3-D.

I've always thought the coolest thing about The Mandolin Cafe is its balance of ages, sexes, amatures, pros, dealers, builders ...

Nope! Just a nick name I earned due to my height...
My first name is Germain, I'm French and I am tall (6'5)

French people like to play with words and invert syllables:
    Ger-main becomes Main-ger
    Tall is grand in French...
    Tall Germain = grand-mainger

Not a drag I'm afraid... Though I dressed up as a woman once for a party. My best friend saw me, got scared, and branded me "the woman he wishes he never meets"

I'm also a girl I've never had any anatomy problems while playing. That may be helped by the fact that I play an a-style. I'm not sure how the scroll would factor in.

Thanks for missing me - although I've never been far away, but just often quietly reading!

Yoo-hoo! Girl here! (Not too many guys named Debbie... at least, not up here in Canada.) Anatomy problems? Um..., my teeny-tiny fingers can't perform some of those bizarre Cirque du Soleil-esque chords. Heck, I can barely fret an A-chord to sound decent, at this time. But, I'm working on it every practice.

I caught a duo at the Ottawa blues fest this july, Paul Rishell + annie raines ,acoustic blues Very nice , just the 2 of them and she (annie) played a mean harp and mando ! Only anatomy issue she had was her long hair got caught in the headstock at one point when she went to set it down , she made a bit of a joke about it . I just checked and they have a web site and have been awarded the HC handy prize for best acoustic blues album . I guess I'm out of touch .
