Paul - I'm no luthier but i have a great interest in the process of building. What i see in your Mandolin is capable of being fully repaired by a good luthier (Rick Turner ?). I've seen far worse
damage on instruments,& also seen just how well they can be repaired /restored. Personally,if you need the work on the cracks done,also follow Rick's advice re.the binding - the 'stained glue' effect
really is something you could do without i'm sure, & it would do justice to what looks to be a really nice instrument - i sincerely hope you get it sorted out ok,
