    Default Mandolin recommendations

    Hi

I'm thinking about getting a new mandolin but I don't really know where to start. I've been playing for a couple of years now and I've currently got a tanglewood mandolin that I got for around £150. I'm looking for something that's more high quality than the one I've got. Although my current mandolin is fine I'm just not very happy with the overall sound of it anymore and I want something that's going to sound a little more professional as I've started playing at gigs and stuff more now. I'm not looking to spend too much money, maybe around £350. Any help would be much appreciated!

My first piece of advice would be to keep an eye on the classifieds here for a used instrument from a European seller so as to save on shipping and import fees. For instance, you might be interested in The Loar LM300 available here: http://www.mandolincafe.com/ads/87248

Alternatively, you might consider looking to a shop that knows how to set up mandolin. TAMCO in Brighton gets rave reviews for its inventory and service: http://www.mandolincafe.com/ads/87423

Also, Moloney Music in Galway makes mention of its available set up: http://www.moloneymusic.com/Products...ndolinsbyprice
