Default Thompson Mandolin vs. Poe Mandolin

    Hello all!

Ok, I have a friend that is interested in buying a mandolin. She was looking at custom ordering a Poe, but since Andy is not taking orders right now, turned her attention to a Thompson F-5 mandolin. Recently, though, I saw on the classifieds that Poe #14 is up for sale/trade, and I remember playing that instrument and liking it, so I sent her the link.

My problem is that I don't know very much about Thompson mandolins, and very little info is available online. Now I'm a little biased, but I think she should buy the Poe, as she can get it for about the same as what Thompson is asking. But, I don't know Thompson mandolins well enough. So I am starting this thread to hear other mandolin player's opinions.

    -POE Mandolins ROCK! Peace.

You might get an answer here, but questions like this are probably more suited to the Looking for Information section.

I've never heard of Thompson and I've been around here for awhile. What's her budget?

I'm assuming this is the Thompson that the OP is referring to.
