Default Washburn bowlback mandolin with pearl covered board

    hi,
I live in Greece and I've found this old Washburn from a friend. He is not musician and wants to sell it.I'm interested to know which is the age and the value of this instrument. There is a label inside writing A-9590.As u can see it is very well decorated and i suppose it was an expensive model of washburn. The mandolin needs some fretwork..but it's in a good condition..
there are also missing some pieces of decoration inlay around the top(sorry for my english).Searching in this forum i guess it is a model 1125 but the back is over 50 ribs as u can see in the pics.At this time the mandolin needs restoration so i cannot have a specific idea about the sound.Does it worth restoration or it's most a piece for collectors?

That's a very good looking Mandolin! Washburn may not be famous and in demand in Europe, but the examples of their finest work, like that fluted bowl, are rare enough to be valuable. He would probably have better luck selling it in the USA, but at guess if condition is good, I don't see it selling for less than 400 to 500 Euros.

Washburn was not Emberger or Calace, nevertheless, their better mandolins were of consistently good quality in my experience, and that must have been one of their top of the line models. If it were mine I would have it restored professionally, no question.

Wow - I've never seen one of these. This one dates to around 1910. Either this started life as a Style 1125 and was restored with a new pickguard (these curled up and disintegrated sometimes) with a larger, non standard shape and ornamentations, and a new pearl fingerboard (also prone to problems), or this could be a custom made model.

I suppose it is a custom made or a presentation mandolin because there are no signs of repair on the pickguard...there are also more than 42 ribs(style 1125) in the bowlback...how much money do u think it should cost?
