Here's a thread devoted to the vine inlay. For the record, I prefer dots to all the other stuff on there. I get lost on vine inlayed necks. It looks like most have something in the board but will have side dots to help out too.

Do you really look at the face of the fretboard while playing? I don't like to do that. The side dots are all I need, though a fancy vine inlay might distract my audience from the truly horrible mando-hacking they are being subjected to (to which they are being subjected?).

Vine inlays kind of destroy the fret marker concept.

Nice job. A preposition's a terrible thing to end a sentence with.

This one is on the thread Jamie gave the link to.. Sorry it's a bad pic but you get the idea.. The postion markers are inlayed in strong green, blue, and pink shell and contrast well with the mother of pearl. No problem..I like the way the pearl inlay mirrors the scroll, but that's just me. besides if your lookin' at it while your playing your gonna get a sore neck..

    Hi Mike,
If you look at the Phoenix/Unicorn vine in the other thread, you will discover that this vine is designed to provide fret marking.
