The finish does look unusual. On the other hand, it has a maple back and that's unusual too.

Looks fine to me. Some are light-colored.
The seller is a member of the cafe that also sells in the classifieds. Contact him and I'm sure he'll give you his professional opinion on the finish.

I'd suspect the camera flash makes it look lighter. The flamey back is weird though.
Maybe I spoke too soon, but it seems that when I see a vintage instrument, and the finish jumps out in a surprising and unexpected way, it usually proves to have been redone. That said, I haven't seen everything yet. Not by a long mile. I've asked the seller for his opinion.

I've played several original Ajrs that had a lighter color to them like this mandolin. It certainly could be the original finish. Come to think of it, I believe both of them were '24s as well
