The problem with the pics (as with any high quality mandolin) is they can't begin to convey the sound that that instrument will make. I've had the pleasure of playing an Ellis, congrats on a fine instrument.

Beautiful! I was ready to sit back and see since it was a long term deal

Please take some time in the next few days to let us know how you like and how you came to your decision.
I'll be returning to the Ellis fold soon so anything Ellis related will help me survive until my A is ready.

I hope you love it. I really liked my old MF-5 too, but when I got the Ellis, I had no reservations about letting it go. It was every bit the match of the Collings in terms of fit and finish, but looked more like a handmade instrument to me (not so much of a C & C look like the Collings mandolins have on the headstock binding). No slight to Collings. They make great instruments. I love the wood Tom used on my instrument. It has some of the most beautiful figure I have ever seen on a mandolin, but then again, every mandolin I see of his shares this characteristic. The tone is so complex and beautiful right out of the box and gets even better with some hours of hard playing under your belt. Congrats again.
