    Okay, read the past posts.

David Grisman and John Sebastian are playing in my area. Tickets have been on sale for MANY months, and were pretty much sold out right away. Grisman rarely (if ever) plays out on Long Island.

I stopped by the box office today, and they had just got a cancelation! So I'm in the 8th row on October 11th!

Here's my question: Has anybody seen this show? Is it pretty much the CD that was released recently?

    Any insight would be appreciated.

GOOD for you!!! I would think the CD is a good start to what you might hear.......they also have a nice cut
on the blues tribute CD for Yank Rachell too. I've never seen a duo show, but saw John sit in with the
DGBX band......it was great fun! They even played some old Lovin' Spoonful stuff....

Some of Grisman's stuff I think is incredible, some I don't care for.

I'm kind of thinking (and hoping) that it will be an eclectic evening. Particularly with the John Sebastian addition. I'd like to hear some old timey and old jazzy stuff, hopefully avoiding bluegrass.

I know Sebastian's voice isn't what it was, but he's still an incredibly talented musician. I'm curious as to what Spoonful stuff might pop up.

    Pinecone's Down Home Series

I would check out the whole calendar.

    it includes
Edgar Meyer and Chris Thile - Oct. 15 (YAYY)
Dailey and Vincent - Nov. 12
David Grisman and John Sebastian - Feb. 7
Dan Tyminski and Tony Rice - Mar. 11

A bunch more, but these are the ones I'm excited about

I saw the Dawg and his "Bluegrass Experience" at the Orange Peel in Asheville N.C.a few weeks ago. I think this was the second gig of his tour. This was all bluegrass, his band, guitar, banjo and fiddle all from the bay area, also his son Sam on base fiddle. He gave chronology of bluegrass from the carter family, to Bill Monroe and jimmy martin, along with Fanny Hill and a good solo for Sam on Dawgs Waltz " for Uncle Jerry" #nice ! The show was opened by Crooked Still and they did a few encore jam numbers. His son just graduated High school and will attend Berkely School of music, so may not be with the rest of the tour. will be interested in hearing about the rest of this tour with John Sebastian, Maybe some jug band music?

All I've heard was that it's a 'nice mix'.

    Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.
