Rick,in one of your post several months ago,you sort of intimated that there might be a 'revised' Weber tailpiece in the mix - is there something coming up ?,

If I ever build my own, I'm going to try a "through body" set-up like a Sweet Pea has. It makes string changes actually easy, with only two hands!

If you are talking about the tailpiece-armrest combo, they are great. I have one on each of two mandolins, mandola and octave.

My one suggestion: On the mando armrest, the strings force the armrest up and every year of so, it pops the armrest off the tailpiece. I then need to clean and re-superglue it back on. Look into making the strings run under the armrest, not up againt it, forcing it up.

The mandola and octave rests dont come in contact with the strings and work great.

Hi Rick - I hope that you didn't see my post as 'impatience',it wasn't meant to be. I was wondering if Weber still intended to 'possibly' produce a revised design of tailpiece or if the idea had been 'put aside' shall we say. I think that you addressed the question ok,
    many thanks,

Nope. Just working out every kink we can; thinking of everything that could go wrong with an accessory is much more a job for NASA engineers than it is for me...

Hi Rick - Many thanks for taking the time to reply. Purely on a personal basis - & please believe that i'm NOT trying to influence any forthcoming design that you might come up with - but the easiest to string & most trouble free tailpiece that i have used, was an Allen style. No moving parts to wear out or mis-align.Push the string thro.the hole, place the loop over the string post & VOILA !!!. I never worked for NASA Rick, but i did work for BAE Systems (formerly British Aerospace) for 45 years both in design & as a manufacturing engineer - are you recruiting (only joking!),

    Rick:

Would it help if your long, lost cousin asked. The man's name is antonio Banuelos, as you and I discussed last week:

It might but I suspect a case of Felinfoel Double Dragon would definitely loosen his tongue
