People comparing him to what? Bill Monroe or an innovator?
He is certainly an innovator yes, Bill Monroe he is not since he is in fact Chris Thile.
He is an outstanding player who does some pretty left field material from time to time that the hard core traditionalists amongst us wont like.
    Takes all sorts.

In that respect then I would say yes, that is a fairly accurate comparison insofar as they are both certainly innovators.
The Bill Monroe thing I dont get really, they are totally different (other than there 'in common' instrument).

You shouldn't get the bill monroe thing because he started the thing called bluegrass and putting the mandolin in country and rock music so thile's name should not even be mentioned next to monroes.

We are getting weary of the OP's chronic Thile trolling. If you can't heed a 2nd warning from a different Moderator, prepare to lose posting privileges. We aren't going to put up with this perpetual flaming.
