Anyone here from around Raliegh North Carolina or within a few hours? I actually live just south in Broadway but drive everywhere. I know of a couple of reputable jams in Raliegh, Carthage, Dunn, Creedmore and Fuquay-Varina.

I'm in Raleigh .... where are these jams? Are any for beginners (I've only had about 4 lessons)? Or, at least something I can go to and listen as I learn some of these songs? Thanks!

    Ok

Tir Na Nog irish pub as a new bluegrass jam every first tuesday....i think. I haven't been out there yet but some of my buddies have been. Geared more towards intermdiate to advanced.

Horniblows tavern has a jam every
    2nd & 4th TUESDAY of Every Month
    8-11pm
    1249-A Wicker Drive, Raleigh, NC

That one is has more room for beginners to just sit back and "noodle" without being in the middle of everything.

May General Store jam is every Sat. night off of Christian Light church road, which is off of HW 401 between Lillington and Fuquay... This is one of the longer running jams. Can be kinda tight onstage but you can sit in the back and chop along, they won't force you into a mike or anything. I used to be a regular...lately it gets pretty hot in the building with all the pickers and listeners and I have been gigging alot.

Few others I'll have to dig up.

Thanks! I've heard of a place called "Ridgeway Opry House" near Henderson that has bands play on saturdays, but I've never been.
