I'll get to your question, Doug, and post some more pics soon. Sounds like there's a good bluegrass band in the park right now though, so I'm off with the fam to hear some tunes.

OK, back from the park where I caught Train 45, Charlie Provenza's band with dueling mandolins between he and Steve Smith, and Billy Byrd playing a 5-string violin/viola hybrid. So cool. It is a good day.

The frontal shot is a little weird because of the camera angle, but you get the picture. I love so many aspects of this instrument, but the tailpiece crowns it. To me it looks so...predatory!

It sounds incredible, Doug. Not sure what strings are on it from the factory. I'll try to post some audio or a youtube video once I get my hands around it better. I'll say it's got authoritative tone, and as I had hoped the f-holes help it sound great for percussive playing.

I'm off to the CBOM board.

    Mandognome,
Your avatar image is 1.8mb and in the unshrunk form 2000x1500 pixels. The avatars should be 100x100 pixels (that's why yours looks a little funny and takes a long tim to appear on the page (it probably kills people with dial up).

Please substitute for this one. BTW, your cello looks awesome, I would love to hear it and try one someday.
