well that was quick, and now it's an "insider" story. he had a pretty funny quote in there about alternating between listening to "metal" and "praise and worship" which apparently makes you a well rounded person.

    ESPN?

If Thile is going to have an online live chat - it should be here at the cafe, not ESPN!

Now wouldn't that be a cool cafe feature, a monthly live online chat with one of our mandolin heros.

Friendlier audience on ESPN... consider he's still a Cubs fan too! His comment about switching between praise and worship and metal immediately evoked the scene in Kubrik's Full Metal Jacket where Jokerman (Mathew Modine) is being dressed down by some old Brass about having a peace symbol button and a written Born To Kill message on his helmet cover and his response about the duality of man...

It was a nice read, thanks for posting, Bob.

Yeah good stuff. Thile and I could totally hang out watching The Big Lebowski once a week. Funny how he said to try to listen to Punch 5 times before passing judgment. I'm listening to it right now and it's pretty good. I didn't really give it a chance (only listened in the car) when I bought it in February.

The Cubs and Cards have an intense rivarly and is comperable to the one the Yankees/ Red Sox have. Given that, I wonder how that sits with Thile (Cubs fan) and Sam Bush (an avid cards fan).
