    Here's a nice looking Flatiron F-model I just discovered on Ebay -- click <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Flatiron-Festival-F2-F-Style-Mandolin_W0QQitemZ120249855625QQihZ002QQcategoryZ1 0179QQssPag

I don't like the word "used" on the headstock & they don't mention anything about tone, etc., but as a beginner's instrument it seems like it might be worth a try. The auction is about to end so most won't be able to bid.

Does anyone have any experience with "used" instruments?

this is a good deal on one of the new overseas made flatirons. if the warranty is important to you, spend the extra 150 bucks for a new one.

the few i've played were very impressive for the price, probably the best f-style i've played in the sub-$1000 market.

the used stamp is curious, that 2 sticker might imply it's some type of second.

The used stamp means it's a second. That's how Gibson marks the Epiphone seconds as well.

I bought a MK 5 string fretless from these folks and was VERY happy with all aspects of the deal. Fast, Accurately described, Well packaged. YMMV Good luck
