All of us change as we get older.

If he wants to be known as Rick I don't know why he put Ricky on his latest CD.

As Foghorn Leghorn use to say....

    "That's joke son, I said that's a joke!"

I think he's starting to look a bit more like Ol' Bill himself.

Ricky -> Rick is a Rick Schroeder "Silver Spoons -> NYPD Blue" thing. Say what you want... I like the new CD. It makes my work day go faster...

I"ve been enjoying Ricky's music for years and especially of late. I love the Hornsby Collaboration, the Instrumentals, the Gospel CD with the Whites and now the Father's of Bluegrass Collection. All of it is so masterfully played and produced.

How come Dolly looks better at 62 than the Rickmeister does at 55? It must be the road......The stock price of McDonalds must go up when he goes on tour........

I was waiting for how someone would fit in some sarcasm to
totally ignore what Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder have produced.....which is an excellent album of Bill Monroe
    classics.

Well, Ricky talks about his momma's cookin' and how much he loves that kind of food and Dolly has never kept secrets about her surgeon's blade. I think, therein lies the difference. My wife really likes the Hornsby collaboration, me - not so much, but I do enjoy Instrumentals and Honoring the Fathers of Bluegrass. He puts out a pretty varied body of work. Good for Ricky!

The stock price at McDonald's probably goes up when I leave my house each day. Maybe we could all look around the room we're in right now. If there are more than 5 people in it I'm going to guess some of them could lose a little weight. Perhaps one of them is sitting in our chair right now. If one of them is your spouse perhaps you could make a similar comment to them. I don't think you will.

Since Dolly has been mentioned, I'll start the doubting-Ricky discussion with my opinion that Dolly's "The Grass is Blue" is more of a real tribute to blue grass music than Ricky's attempt at re-creating 1946 but with a hot lead guitar ("well, you don't need any hot guitar licks..."). And Dolly has a real lead voice.

There... are we at the right direction yet :-)

I think the new recording is fine, but from a project perspective how is this recording any different than Bluegrass Rules?

It covers songs recorded from a very narrow timespan/era by Bill Monroe 1946-47. The start of the Bluegrass sound and to most the consumate Bluegrass band.

Rules covers the classics but over a larger span of time and artists.
