I picked up my MF5 the other morning and started playing. I thought how shrill and bad it sounded. I tried a few songs with not much change. In frustration, I put it away. I then played the Vinage A, then the Stanley and the music was sounding better. At the end of the session, I went back to the MF5, and my did it sound good. What was the difference? Me. I had relaxed and was playing with the instrument, instead of playing at it. I find that Collings, whether guitars or mandolins, requires a sensitive touch. And when sensitive, they blossom. I stopped thinking about selling the MF5.

Everything you wrote here is true. If I aplly the right touch and am relaxed it sound like an angle. If I attack it or play new material and get frustated it reflecks the same emotion back to me.
