would anyone familiar with the south american repertoire be able to recommend a book or collection of traditional, south american "folk" tunes written for the mandolin - especially those credited to our prolific old friend and composer, "anon."?

    thank you - bill

Bill, I don't know if I'm off base on your request, but if it's Brazilian Choro you're looking for, you'll do no better than the 3 volumes of O Melhor do Choro Brasileiro.
Luzo-Brazilian books has them on their website:
    Vol 1
    Vol 2
    Vol 3
Though they may not be the anonymous folk tunes you seek, these are loaded with some of the richest music South of the equator.

    thank you for the recommendation.

this maybe a fools' errand but what i'm looking for are baroque tunes (galliards, estampie, salterellos, etc.) from the old world that are doing very nicely, thank you, as "traditional" south american music.

    thanks again - bill
