A friend is thinking of looking at this local (for him - not me) mandolin and has asked me for advice. #I'm not really a Gibson guy, so I'm turning to you folks.

Questions: #1) This is a Charlie Derrington signed label - right?; # 2) Would this instrument be made in Montana or Nashville?; # 3) The neck/fingerboard: #What is the nut width (1 1/16" or 1 1/8" or ??), #radiused or flat?, #fret size - thin wire or guitar gauge wire?; #4) Now the ultimate question: #There's been a lot of talk since Mr Derrington's untimely death. #Would you say this mandolin represents good value _now_ , #and what about a prediction of future value?

    Thanks for all help.

    1) yes 2) made in nashville 3) flatboard unless altered, not sure on width - could be either - probably 1/8 4) i think that is too much for any a-5l pretty much. i don't think one could predict that very well. i'd pay maybe 2000-2300 for a very nice one, but these seem to stick around on the market listed much higher.
