This is spinning in the car.
What a great record. Simple tunes, played with feeling, skill and that elusive BG pop. I particularly dig that tune in A, where it goes I-V-I on the head, then to IV-I-V-I on the bridge (obviously, I forget the name).

Yes, this is a classic. Stoney Creek is fantastic. This album is high on the list of "must haves" for Bluegrass pickers.

Alan, that's one of my favs! I have it on tape!!
"Bounce Away" & "Back in Business" are 'must-haves' if you like Herschel's style. The guy is simply incredible. His version of 'Grey Eagle' off "Back In Business" is a powerful piece of picking,& as Alan Bibey says on Herschel's tuition DVD, "not for the faint hearted',but well worth the effort,

Weber F-5 'Fern'.
Lebeda F-5 "Special".
Stelling Bellflower BANJO
Tanglewood TW-1000SR Guitar
Tokai - 'Tele-alike'.
Yeah Skip, it's terrific. Clean and direct pickin, for sure. And I was wrong a while back, Fiddler's Creek is in Bb.
Alan, I remember when I first heard the album. I walked in David Shepperds music when he was in Greensboro and they had it playing. It stopped me in my tracks!
One of the best Lp's for my money.
Hey, don't forget My Style
What's everybody think of the new recording called B-Natural ? It's got a lot of tasty picking from Herschel and he's joined by Alan Bibey on a couple of tunes.
I dunno though, it just doesn't grab be as much as some of his other recordings.
2012 Ford Escape
Fender Medium Guitar Pick
3 Cats & 1 Worn-Out Dog
alright thanks! now when i learn these tunes, ill know what it is im playing! what a great album, i find it really kind of fills in the blanks as to where alot of mandolin players got their sound from. i always wondered how it went from Bill Monroe to some of the more modern players, this album kind of fills that in alittle.
