Just that he no longer makes mandolins. I've also been told that he doesn't even like to talk about them, but that may have been b.s. I sure liked mine when I had it. Frank

Search Kettler and look for a thread in the last few months. I recall a Kettler on eBay that we were all discussing and his son registered to the 'cafe and added a comment. You may find that you can send him an email from his profile.
Good luck.

Wilf,
Here is the thread Fatt-Dad was talking about. Mr. Kettler's son's post is on page 2.

Sometimes I wonder what happened to the Kettler F I had. I traded it in at Buffalo Bros a few years ago, for a Collings that I later traded. The Kettler's f-holes had been opened up by a well-known luthier, which I really didn't get, since I've always found the smaller f-holes to produce a punchier, more projecting tone. It didn't seem to hurt the sound any, it was a good mandolin. Hard to believe someone who made such good instruments gave it up, though I know from personal experience making leather cowboy gear that when your hobby becomes a job, sometimes you can lose your love for doing it. Especially when those deadlines loom. If anybody here owns the "Buffalo Bros. Kettler," please give us an update. Thanks, Frank
