I know this guy makes some nice mandos... anyone know where he hails from or how I can contact him?

His shop is in Nagano, Japan. You can get Sumi mandolins from Blueridge Pickin' Parlor in Northridge Calif., and First Quality in Louisville KY.
I got to play one at a superbowl pickin party. It was so awesome played like butta! I was so impressed. I mean seriously and I've played some other well known mandos and this one sounded the best, so far(to my untrained ears).
If you call talk to Mike at Fqms he owned the one I played. I didn't want to give it up. I made him play mine, poor guy of course he even sounded good playing my mando.
FQMS's Sullivan Mando is made by Sumi.

yup, Get them cats on the phone over at FQMS, they can fill you in on all the details. They are solid built....ask anyone who has played one. I am dying to check one out myself, I want to con Mike into bringing one with him on his next stop thru NYC.

Russ,
I'm sure you won't have to twist his arm too hard.:D
The Kentucky Dawg mandolins and mandolas are Sumi creations too.
