I feel a little silly asking this, but, heck, it's the holiday gift giving season, right:

Does any one have any D'Addario Player's Points packaging they don't want that they'd be willing to send me?
You know, the cardboard packages from D'Addario strings, and other brands of stuff, like Plant Waves, etc, that have those Player's Points values on them.

I've been waiting over two years for them to offer that little wooden stool again, and they finally have it, and I find that I'm 30 points shy.
Anyone want to recycle some cardboard my way?

    If so, contact me, thanks!

I've never even paid attention to that. Turns out I have the 30pts I can send you.

There's a lot of love in this room. I've never noticed the points, do they come on D'Addario mandolin string packages? if so I should have some laying around.

Wow, I'm feeling the love, for sure!

    Thanks, everyone.
Yes, I think all the string packages have point values on them.
It's kind of nice program. #The point is to keep packaging out of landfills, in addition to the customer loyality gift aspect.

If you guys use these products anyway, check it out:
    http://www.daddarioinc.com/content/players_points.html

(And if you still DON'T want to use them yourselves, I'll take all you're offering...maybe I can get a T-shirt along with the stool! # )

And Mike, maybe you want to come to our next jam session on Dec 15th and bring them up in person?

You know, I'm not sure. The old stool was 17", and about a year ago, a message on the the company forum said the new stool would be taller, 24". So if things went as planned, this one would be 24".

    ApK,

I see you are probably getting the points you need. I may have to finally cash in my Player Points and get a stool, or two. I got a few of their t-shirts several years ago.

Word of warning. Even if you're confused about the size, don't request a stool sample...

According to the link I posted above the stool is 120 points. Now don't you all go ordering all the stools before I can get one!

I'm glad to hear that the stool is available again. The last time I considered cashing in my points, there wasn't anything of interest. I would probably go for the stool plus hats. I have been saving the points since the early 90's and have yet to cash in.

I got in a couple of the new stools a couple weeks ago. The seats are bigger around than the old ones, about 12" or more in diameter now. I use them to set cold beverages and stuff on at gigs.

They used to offer some really great premiums--gear bags for gigs, Swiss Army knives and watches, fleece jackets, binoculars, even a wild-looking custom guitar (for some astronomical number of points--40,000 or something). The current offerings are all standard product marketing swag, but the stool is a pretty great deal.

I've been waiting for those to come back around. I have 270 points.
I like the natural wood. My buddy has a "red stool" in his house. Something I don't want to experience!

How many points are on each EXP box? And anybody know how many are on Zyex? I've been using Thomastik strings on all my instruments (bowed and picked) but I used to use D'Addario and I know someone who probably has a tone of these things sitting around because he uses D'Addario strings for all instruments and orders by the box...so now I'm interested and wish I'd saved all my points.

5 points on my EXP guitar strings, and the ones the folks here sent me (didn't notice if they were mando or what.)
9 points on the 3-pack boxes and the big XL bass strings.
2 or 3 on most smaller, cheaper string and accessory packages.

Hey, just thought I'd let you nice folks know that I got my D'Adarrio stool! I'm now considering it my holiday gift from the mandolin cafe forum folks!
I actually got it on Tuesday (when I heard it crash onto the front porch...why doesn't Fedex ring the bell or knock or something?) Unfortunately, It was severely damaged, the seat was cracked completely in half.

I called D'Adarrio in NY, and spoke to some very nice people, especially Mark, who, after a day or so of checking on the procedure, told me he'd send a replacement out to me right away and don't worry about returning the broken one.
It came yesterday, in fine condition, despite some holes in the box which made me nervous.

While I'm obviously concerned bit about it's durability now, it's quite a nice little stool. Just tall enough that 6' me can put my foot up on the leg struts to sit the guitar on my lap comfortably, which I quite like.
I'm keeping the broken one for spare parts just in case...maybe I'll practice a bit of woodworking and see if I can repair the top enough to use it for a side table/drink stand.

    Thanks again, guys!

I have (4) of the stools now they used to offer the tall one like now with a different logo then they went to a short one now they are back with the tall one.

All D'addario products have the points; a bass player friend gave me the points from one set of bass strings: a whopping 38 points!

They have a cool t-shirt with a "Monkees like" font on it too.

I have to get some of those little egg humidifers they sell.
    Not for my Mix though

So, let me get this straight. I buy their
product then I advertise their product at no cost to them ?
What's the incentive? I get to "celebrate my preferences" on their behalf? Fuggedabowdit!

So, Curt, do you have black tape over the name on your peghead?
