I have a question about replacing the tuners on my Breedlove KF Quartz mandolin. It came with these really cheap saga tuners and I wish to have them replaced with either some Schaller or Grover tuners. The string posts seem to all be the same width so I think I can get away with not changing the bushings in order to prtect the peghead veneer. However, I am concerned about the unscrewing and screwing of the tuner plates. Is this something that I can really screw up. What advice do you have for me? Is this something I should have done by a pro? If so how much should labor cost? Finally, who is a good repairman in central Ohio. Thanks in advance for your responces.

Most likely you will have to fill and redrill some mounting screw holes, but possibly not. Otherwise the change out is usually very simple. If a screw doesn't want to go straight in you will need to fill the hole and redrill it. Aside from looking sloppy, an angled screw is likely to break off the head as it engages the base plate. Then you are a bit more stuck.
